The Department of Home Economics and Ecology of the Faculty of Environment, from 13/12/2020 has been renamed to the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development according to the Government Gazette 5313/3-12-2020, Vol.

The scope of knowledge of the Department remains as defined in Article 2 of Presidential Decree 206/92 (A΄97) and is specialized in the following scientific fields:

• Promoting the quality of life of the individuals, the family and society, which aligns with sustainability and follows the principles of Home Economics.
• Consumer behavior about the responsible and sustainable anthropogenicagement of natural resources, studying and shaping balanced dietary behavior patterns, anthropogenicaging household and consumer finances, and developing healthy interpersonal and collective social relations.
• Sustainable entrepreneurship, anthropogenicagement and operation of businesses and organisations.
• anthropogenicagement of the natural and anthropogenic-made environment, assessment of the environmental and social impacts of economic activity, environmental education and awareness raising.
• Sustainable tourism and culture with emphasis on the promotion of culture as a vital factor of development and the interaction between culture and tourism as key pillars of sustainable social development.
• Psycho-pedagogical education of students through the acquisition of pedagogical and teaching skills for teaching courses related to the subject of the Department in public and private educational institutions.

 The degrees awarded by the Department of Home Economics and Ecology are in all respects equivalent and corresponding to those awarded in the future by the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development. Accordingly, no modification is required to be made to the titles of the degrees already awarded by the Department up to the date of the above GGC.

The degrees issued from now on by the Department will bear the new name of the Department, regardless of the year of admission of the student.
