Quality Policy Declaration of the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development
The Department of Economics and Sustainable Development is committed to implement a quality policy that will support the academic character and orientation of the curriculum, promote its purpose and subject area, achieve its strategic objectives and define the methods and ways of their achievement, implementing the indicated quality procedures, with the ultimate goal to continually improve it.
In particular, in order to implement this policy, the Department of Economy and Sustainable Development is committed to implement quality procedures related to:
a. The suitability of the structure and organisation of the curriculum.
b. The pursuit of learning outcomes and qualifications in compliance to the European and National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education.
c. The promotion of the quality and effectiveness of teaching.
d. The suitability of the qualifications of the teaching staff.
e. The promotion of the quality and quantity of the research work of members of the academic unit.
f. The ways of connecting teaching to research.
g. The level of demand for graduates’ acquired qualifications.
h. The quality of support services, such as administrative services, libraries and student services.
i. Conducting the annual review and internal inspection of the quality assurance system of the curriculum as well as the cooperation of the Internal Evaluation

Objectives and Actions for Ensuring the Quality Policy of the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development
The Department’s Quality Assurance Policy is structured around the following pillars of action, which are in line with the objectives of the Department, as reflected in its Strategic Plan and the Strategy of the Institution:
• The preservation and enhancement of the academic character and mission of the Department, as well as the direction and structure of its curriculum.
• The pursuit of learning outcomes in compliance to the European and National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education.
• Promoting the quality and effectiveness of educational performance.
• To further improvement of the research activity in the Department.
• The strengthening of the Department’s image.
• To further improvement of the administrative, educational and counselling services provided to students.
• The upgrading of support services for students with specific educational needs.
• The adaptation of studies to the needs of the market.
• The continuous training of faculty on issues related to modern methods of teaching and supervision of research projects.
• The promotion of excellence in teaching and research.
The Management of the Department is committed to the implementation, monitoring and review of the Quality Assurance System that is implemented in order to improve it on a continuous basis. It recognises and communicates to each member of the academic community its contribution to the achievement of the University’s and the Department’s objectives. The Department’s Quality Policy, its academic performance, which is determined by specific indicators, and the results of its evaluations will be appropriately communicated to stakeholders.
