Dr. Nikolaos Kontodimopoulos is an Assistant Professor of Service Management at the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development, Harokopio University of Athens. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Medical Electronics and Physics from Queen Mary College, University of London, as well as an MBA and a PhD in Health Management and Economics from the School of Social Sciences of the Hellenic Open University.
He has 25 years of professional experience at the Central Administration of the National Emergency Medical Service (EKAB) and other divisions of the Ministry of Health. He served for four years as Joint CEO and President of the Board of the Attica General Hospital “KAT” and the National Rehabilitation Center.
For the past 20 years, he has taught postgraduate courses in Health Services Management and Health Economics at the Hellenic Open University, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as at other universities in Greece and abroad. He has supervised more than 120 postgraduate theses.
His research interests focus on health services management, economic evaluation of health programs, efficiency of healthcare providers, sustainability of health systems, and health policy. He has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, which have received over 5,700 citations, and he holds an h-index of 37 (Google Scholar).
