Η Παναγιώτα Καραμέτου του Κωνσταντίνου και της Κωνσταντίνας είναι μέλος του Εργαστηριακού Διδακτικού Προσωπικού (Ε.ΔΙ.Π.) του Τμήματος Οικονομίας και Βιώσιμης Ανάπτυξης της Σχολή Περιβάλλοντος, Γεωγραφίας και Εφαρμοσμένων Οικονομικών του Χαροκοπείου Πανεπιστημίου και μέλος του Εργαστηρίου Εφαρμοσμένων Οικονομικών και Βιώσιμης Ανάπτυξης.

Είναι πτυχιούχος του Τμήματος Οικιακής Οικονομίας του Χαροκοπείου Πανεπιστημίου και κάτοχος Μεταπτυχιακού Διπλώματος Ειδίκευσης (MSc) στη «Βιώσιμη Τοπική Ανάπτυξη» του Τμήματος Οικονομίας και Βιώσιμης Ανάπτυξης του Χαροκοπείου Πανεπιστημίου. Το 2006 έλαβε τον τίτλο «Postgraduate Certificate in European Spatial Planning (PgCESP)» από το πανεπιστήμιο του Newcastle του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου. Επίσης, είναι Διδάκτωρ  (PhD)  του Χαροκοπείου Πανεπιστημίου στην Τοπική Ανάπτυξη (με υποτροφία του Ιδρύματος Κρατικών Υποτροφιών (ΙΚΥ). 

Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται στην βιώσιμη τοπική και περιφερειακή ανάπτυξη του αγροτικού και του αστικού χώρου, τους κοινωνικο-οικονομικούς παράγοντες τοπικής και περιφερειακής ανάπτυξης, την κοινωνική βιωσιμότητα, την κοινωνική καινοτομία, το κοινωνικό κεφάλαιο, την κοινωνική συνοχή και ανάπτυξη και τα ESG κριτήρια (με έμφαση στα κοινωνικά κριτήρια).

Έχει συμμετάσχει με ανακοινώσεις σε επιστημονικά συνέδρια και ημερίδες στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό καθώς και σε χρηματοδοτούμενα ερευνητικά προγράμματα σχετικά με την Βιώσιμη Τοπική και Περιφερειακή Ανάπτυξη και έχει δημοσιεύσει άρθρα σε έγκριτα ελληνικά και ξενόγλωσσα περιοδικά. 

Από τον Νοέμβριο του 2024 είναι αναπληρώτρια επιστημονική υπεύθυνη του έργου με τίτλο: GAME4CHANGE Digital Serious Games for Climate Change Education (project number 2024-1-PT01-KA220-HED-000256244 το οποίο είναι συγχρηματοδοτούμενο από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, κατηγορία Erasmus KA2+, HED.
