The ERASMUS Office – Department of International and Public Relations contributes dynamically and actively to the external relations and internationalization of Harokopio University, in order to develop strong academic cooperation with strategic partners, mainly in the European Higher Education Area, and beyond.

In particular, it enhances, supports and promotes academic cooperation and the participation of Harokopio University in European educational programmes. It supports the two-way mobility (from and to Harokopio University) of students, members of the faculty and staff in the actions implemented by the University in the context of ERASMUS.

The Erasmus+ Regulation for the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development follows the provisions of the ERASMUS+ Regulation of the Institution (Harokopio University), but is adapted to the characteristics of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the Department.

On the Department’s website and on a special Erasmus+ hyperlink, all the necessary information on the mobility procedures for incoming and outgoing students and teaching staff is posted in Greek and English. The Heads of Department ensure that the information is correct and up-to-date.

The Department of Economics and Sustainable Development aims to conclude bilateral agreements with Departments and Faculties of Foreign Universities, with subjects that fall within the fields of knowledge of the Department.

The strategic planning and objectives of the Erasmus+ programme of the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development are in line with the Institutional planning and objectives as set by the Institutional Coordinator and the Erasmus+ Committee. In particular, the objectives of the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development are:

To inform undergraduate and postgraduate students and the teaching staff of the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development about the Erasmus+ actions and to encourage them to participate in these actions.

The annual increase in the mobility of outgoing students, both for studies and for internships.

An annual increase in the mobility of outgoing faculty members for teaching purposes.

Ensuring that scholarships are awarded to students with high academic performance.

To reduce cancellations of travel to maximise fund absorption.

The establishment of bilateral agreements with Universities of high academic standing covering a wide range of options for students of the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development in terms of subjects, country and teaching language.

The promotion of the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study to partners abroad, in order to increase the number of incoming students and teaching staff each year.

To provide quality and effective academic and administrative support to incoming and outgoing students.

Erasmus+ Coordinators and ECTS Unit Leaders, for the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development, are the Departmental Coordinator and the Deputy Departmental Coordinator.

Establishment of Selection Criteria for Outgoing Students to Participate in Mobility for Studies under the ERASMUS Programme

If the number of applications for student mobility for scholarship studies exceeds the number of places available in the Department, a list of selected and successful students is created. It is proposed that applications should be ranked according to the following criteria (where the emphasis is primarily on academic criteria):

    Average score of performance (50%)

Foreign language diploma (basic level) (25%)

Participation – attendance in workshops, conferences, etc. (20%)

Motivation letter or letter of intent (5%)
